Last.fm Design System

A holistic design strategy for a low-key design refresh. I designed the new approach, built a re-usable component library in Figma, and provided documentation for appropriate usage.

Project: Last.fm Design System

Requirements: Last.fm’s visual approach has remained fundamentally unchanged since 2015. I was tasked with updating the approach to colour, typography and layout, seamlessly linked to our branding materials and mobile apps.

Scope: Revisit the visual approach, suggest changes and enhancements, test the new implementation, and build a Figma component library to ensure adherence to the new system.

Process: Stakeholder engagement to define scope. Work with our (external) marketing team to rebuild their own design documentation alongside this refresh. Test updates to key pages with our users to ensure I made measurable improvements. Build a component library in Figma, including detailed documentation on usage. Work with Head of Product on a strategy to begin implementing the new system across the website and apps.
